This short piece film explains the 'Think Ahead' form and the importance of thinking about furure care in case of accident, emergency or serious illness. The purpose of the 'Think Ahead' project is to develop a system to guide members of the public in recording and registering their preferences in the event of emergency, serious illness or death. 'Think Ahead' is a 'flagship project' of the National Council of the Forum on End of Life in Ireland.

In January 2009, the Irish Hospice Foundation invited the public to take part in its newly established Forum on End-of-Life in Ireland by making submissions on the issues they believed to be most important in relation to death, dying, bereavement and end-of-life.
From January to September 2009 The forum, which was officially launched in March 2009, engaged with a wide range of sectors of Irish society to develop insight into how to address all the challenges related to of dying, death and bereavement in Ireland.
A public call for submissions from individuals and organisations was made between January 9th and February 20th with the aim of using these submissions to inform the programme of the Forum.
These submissions also informed the publication ‘Perspectives on end-of-life; Report of the Forum 2009’ which was published in early 2010.
