The nurses will provide support and co-ordinate care for children with life-limiting illnesses at home. ..Over five years, with the agreement of the Department of Health and Children and the HSE, the IHF will raise more than €2.5 million to meet this commitment...The IHF announced this following the launch yesterday by the Minister of State for Children, Barry Andrews, of the Palliative Care for children with life-limiting conditions in Ireland—A National Policy, at the Government Press Centre, Government Buildings in Dublin. ..Among the recommendations is that the HSE should develop an implementation plan, and that a consultant paediatrician with a special interest in palliative care for children should be appointed as well as regionally based children’s outreach nurses.
