Events are organised nationally with proceeds going to local voluntary hospice organisations. The aim is to raise support for local hospice services with all funds raised locally, staying local. Sunflower Days developed to become an annual event taking place over two days in June each year. Volunteers are recruited across the country to fundraise by selling Sunflower days pins, nail files and merchandise and by holding events. Title A name given to the resource Peter and the Wolf Project 2003 Subject The topic of the resource The Irish Hospice Foundation's CD and book reworking of Prokofiev's classic Peter and the Wolf with music by Gavin Friday and the Friday-Seezer Ensemble and illustrations by Bono Description An account of the resource In 2003 singer and composer Gavin Friday along with his musical collaborator Maurice Seezer created the first Irish adaptation of Sergei Prokofiev's classic 'Peter and the Wolf'. A CD box set was created accompanied by a 64-page cloth-bound book illustrated by U2’s Bono and his daughters Jordan and Eve. The book was officially launched on October 1 2003. The original art work by Bono, with canvases up to 20 foot long went on an exhibition tour of three countries. Description An account of the resource In January 2009, the Irish Hospice Foundation invited the public to take part in its newly established Forum on End-of-Life in Ireland by making submissions on the issues they believed to be most important in relation to death, dying, bereavement and end-of-life. From January to September 2009 The forum, which was officially launched in March 2009, engaged with a wide range of sectors of Irish society to develop insight into how to address all the challenges related to of dying, death and bereavement in Ireland. A public call for submissions from individuals and organisations was made between January 9th and February 20th with the aim of using these submissions to inform the programme of the Forum. These submissions also informed the publication ‘Perspectives on end-of-life; Report of the Forum 2009’ which was published in early 2010.
