Description
Following a number of proposals from the Irish Hospice Foundation research committee and Irish Universities on the development of a visiting professorship in Hospice Studies an appointment was made in November 2005.
Medical sociologist Professor David Clark, a lecturer and researcher at Lancaster University and founder of the International Observatory on End of Life Care. Professor Clark was also Director of the Institute for Health Research.
The professorship was co-hosted by the Faculty of Health Sciences at Trinity College Dublin and the School of Medicine and Health Sciences at University College Dublin and funded by IHF for three years.
During his visiting professorship Dr Clark delivered a number of lectures, was involved in reviewing IHF research grant applications and supported development and expansion of IHF education programmes.
