In 1987 Mary Redmond began fundraising for the establishment of this second hospice. The Irish Hospice Foundation along with the Daughters of Charity began a home care service for North Dublin from a portacabin on the grounds of the Capuchin Friary in Raheny. Description An account of the resource In 2006 following the success of the Care of people dying in hospitals pilot project in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda the Irish Hospice Foundation was awarded funding from Atlantic Philanthropies to develop a national Hospice Friendly Hospitals programme.
